Tour Guide at University of New Haven
Hometown: North Easton, MA
Major: Marine BiologyConnect
I am currently in my Junior Year here at the University and it is shocking for me to realize that. Many of my classes now hold marine focuses so I am constantly in the lab and field working on those. One project I have been working on in my free time is building a website. This website is called Marvoria and it is a place for me to talk about and share all that I love about the ocean and life in general. It doesn not have as much content up yet as I would like but I am slowly working on more and more articles that I can post.
My favorite class that I have taken here at UNH would have to be the Introduction to Marine Biology course that I took my first semester freshman year. The class really helped me solidify my passion for the field and helped show me all that I can do. It was a tremendous learning experience as well as providing me the opportunity to bond with my professors and my class mates.
There were many factors in my decision of which school to attend. I ended up choosing UNH for a few very important reasons that stood out to me above all other. One was the community atmosphere I could see and feel on campus. I enjoy being involved in a lot of activities and UNH provided me the perfect opportunity to do so. A second factor was the location of the school. It is very easy for me to go into New York City and see some of my family members that live there but more importantly the fact that Long Island Sound is so close made a huge impact. That is because for Marine Biology having such a large diverse body of water so close to my school provides many opportunities to go out into the field to learn and do research.
My favorite place on campus would have to be either the dinning areas of the library. I am torn between the two because both of them have atmospheres that I love to be in. What makes the dinning areas some of my favorite places is the fact that I can walk into any of them and see people I know, see my friends. The environment that I walk into there provides a form of support that I never realized I was missing until I had it. The library on the other hand is where I can be found at almost any point. I find that the library is the perfect place for me to get work done either on my own or in a group.
